Privacy statement
Bonaire Boat Rentals handles your data with care. This page explains which personal data we process when you reserve a boat, contact us or visit this website, why we do so and what your rights are.
1. Who is responsible

2. Which data we process
- Booking and contact. When you reserve a boat or ask a question through the form, WhatsApp, phone or email: your name, email address, phone number, the requested date and boat, and the content of your message.
- On arrival. Before the rental we check a valid ID of the captain and hold the deposit on a credit card. Card details are processed on site through the payment terminal; they are not collected through this website or stored by us.
- Feedback and reviews. What you send us privately through the review page (name, email, phone, message). A review on Google is posted by you on Google, under Google's privacy policy.
- Automatically when you visit. Technical data needed to run and secure the site, such as your IP address, browser and device type, in the log files of our hosting provider.
3. Why, and on which basis
- To confirm and carry out your reservation and to reach you about your day on the water (performance of the contract).
- To answer your question or feedback (legitimate interest, or consent when you give it through the form).
- To handle the deposit and any damage (performance of the contract).
- To keep the website secure and working (legitimate interest).
- To meet legal obligations, such as record-keeping requirements for our administration.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making and we do not send newsletters unless you have signed up for them.
4. How long we keep data
Booking and invoice data are kept for as long as the statutory retention period for our administration applies. Messages sent through the contact or feedback form are kept as long as needed to handle your request, and for a maximum of two years after that. Hosting log files are deleted automatically after a short period.
5. Who we share data with
We never sell your data. We only share it with parties we need to run the site and our service:
- Formspree (Formspree, Inc., USA) processes the messages from the contact and feedback form and forwards them to us by email. See the Formspree privacy policy.
- Bókun, our online booking system, processes your reservation and payment when you book through the website.
- Google Analytics (Google): only with your consent do we measure how the website is used. Without consent Google only receives anonymous signals without cookies. See the cookie statement.
- Vercel (Vercel Inc., USA) hosts this website and processes technical data such as your IP address for that purpose.
- Google: the map on the contact page (Google Maps) and the links to our Google reviews. As soon as you use the map or go to Google, Google processes data under its own policy.
- WhatsApp (Meta): if you contact us through WhatsApp, WhatsApp's privacy policy applies to that conversation.
- Blue Bay Bonaire, our sister company within ABC Cruiseline N.V., for joint planning on the dock and administration.
We have appropriate agreements in place with our processors. Some of these parties are located in the United States; they provide safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
6. Cookies
This website uses necessary cookies, for example to remember your cookie choice and to make online booking work. Analytics cookies from Google Analytics are placed only with your consent. Everything about this is in the cookie statement.
7. Children
Our services are aimed at adults: the captain is at least 21 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.
8. Security
The website runs entirely over a secure connection (HTTPS) and we limit access to your data to the people who need it. No connection is completely secure; if you notice anything unusual, please let us know.
9. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict processing, to data portability and to object. Consent you have given can be withdrawn at any time. Send your request to info@bonaireboatrentals.com; we respond within four weeks. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, in the Netherlands the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
10. Changes
We may update this statement, for example when we start using a new service. The current version is always on this page, with the date at the top.
